Abstract

1,212,684. Two-part couplings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 20 Feb., 1968 [1 March, 1967], No. 9771/67. Heading H2E. A connector comprises a body 1 of resilient insulating material, e.g. nylon, having a plurality of parallel through passages 2 extending between two parallel faces 3 and 4, each passage 2 being cylindrical as far as a reduced diameter throat region 5, from which the passage 2 tapers to face 4, there being located near the opposite end of passage 2 four circumferentially spaced internal protuberances 7, each having a lead-in slope 8 and a retaining face 9 for co-operation with a radially projecting flange 12 of a generally cylindrical socket contact 10 which fits into passage 2. The connector is cast in a mould, the resilience of the material being such that the core used to define passage 2, including protruberances 7, as far as throat 5, may be integrally withdrawn. A cable clamp 36 as described in Specification 1,194,412 is provided at the wire-entry side of face 3. An internally threaded milled metal collar 23 is rotatably held on an external flange 24 where it is axially located by an internal circlip 25 and thrust ring 26 over which the collar is spun at 27.
