Abstract

1,205,886. Bearings. SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN A.B. 14 May, 1968 [16 May, 1967], No. 22895/68. Heading F2A. A bearing is provided with a cover 1 which has lugs 6 and 7 which engage in recesses 4 and 5 in the bearing housing 2. The housing 2 is provided with a seat for the bearing which is an equatorial zone of a sphere. The outer race of the bearing is provided with a complementary surface. The recesses 4 and 5 extend axially from an aperture in an end face of the housing to the diameter of the seat perpendicular to the axis of the housing. The diametrical distance between the opposing bases of the recesses is at least as great as the diameter of the sphere, and the width of the recesses is at least as great as the axial length of the outer bearing race, so that the race can be inserted into the housing through the recesses with the bearing axis perpendicular to the axis of the housing, and the bearing rotated in the housing until its outer race seats on the seat of the housing. The cover 1 has a frusto-conical wall 8 with a pair of diametrically opposed extensions at the larger diameter end, which engage in the recess to locate the cover in the housing.
