Abstract

1,243,946. Bearing seat. SKF COMPAGNIE D'APPLICATIONS MECANIQUES. 6 July, 1970 [4 July, 1969], No. 32599/70. Heading F2A. [Also in Division B3] A bearing housing formed from a single blank has a socket portion 3 provided with a peripheral flange 1. The internal surface 4 of the socket is part-spherical and forms a seat for the outer race of a rolling bearing. A recess 6 is formed in the inner surface of the socket which allows the insertion of the race. The end faces of the bearing race are inserted at right angles to the flange after which the race is turned into its operating position. The flange is provided with holes 2 which facilitate the attachment of the housing to a support. Two recesses diametrically opposite each other may be provided to facilitate the insertion of the race. When only one recess is provided, the internal surface of the recess may be inclined to facilitate insertion of the race.
