Abstract

1,118,780. Retainers; bearings. M. J. HAMBLIN. 13 Sept., 1966, No. 40752/66. Headings F2A and F2H. A retainer for a circular member, e.g. a seal 3, in a housing 1 comprises a ring 7 having a frusto-conical surface 8, and an elastomeric ring 11 which is forced into a chamber between the surface 8 and a similar surface 9 in the housing. The seal 3 may be of H- or X- crosssection. The circular member may be a shell bearing or the outer race of a ball-bearing.
