Abstract
1,210,409. Descaling metal. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. Dec.12, 1967 [Dec.13, 1966], No.56518/67. Heading C7E. To rid them of scale metal articles are immersed in a fused alkali metal hydroxide bath, containing 0À3 to 5% by weight of NaH and suitably otherwise of NaOH and/or KOH, or at least 150 C. then are quenched in a water bath, rinsed and mechanically treated. The mechanical treatment may be spraying with water, application of compressed air, brushing or shaking. Immersion in the fused bath affects from 50 to 80% of the scale only, and leaves it loosened and partially reduced so that the quenching and mechanical treatment are able to complete descaling.
