Plant adapted to print or impregnate a continuous length of carpet material comprises alternative printing device 12 and impregnating device 16 followed by common dye setting chamber 15, breadth washing machine 19, vibrating device 20, water removal suction device 21, optional dryer, and folding machine 22. In chamber 15, the material is subjected to an atmosphere of steam supplied from a plurality of nozzles while it passes over a steam-heated cylinder (24), support rods (25), and a rod conveyor chain (26).
