Abstract

732,055. Drying fabrics. BAILEY (ENGINEERS), Ltd., J. May 11, 1953 [May 10, 1952], No. 11880/52. Class 34 (1). [Also in Group VIII] In a fabric shrinkage machine (see Group VIII), moistened fabric AA passes over a heated drying cylinder 11, on to an inclined conveyer 13 comprising perforated aluminium or other transverse laths carried by endless chains, and over a further drying cylinder 19. Cylinders 11, 19 and conveyer 13 are located within the drying chamber which may be heated by steam pipes and circulating fans and baffles for directing hot air on to the fabric, To allow the fabric to shrink, no moving part has a higher surface speed than the preceding one, and conveyer 13 is driven at a slightly lower surface speed than cylinder 11 to allow the fabric to festoon without tension between the laths.
