Abstract

709,972. Drying textile webs. KRANTZ, H., and KRANTZ, W., [trading as KRANTZ SOHNE, H.]. Feb. 18, 1952 [Feb. 19, 1951], No. 4292/52. Class 34(1) textile webs are dried in successive stages by heated air and superheated steam alternately. A single layer tenter drier has six chambers, a, b, c, d, e, f, through which the fabric web 1 is continuously conveyed and air entering at inlet 2 passes to fan 3 and is forced over heating elements 4 and then transversly of the web in chambers a, b, c, d. In chambers e, f the web is treated with superheated steam from a pipe 5, which steam forces out the air in the chamber at the beginning - of the operation and is then recirculated and reheated. In a modification (Fig. 4) the drying medium is blown against both sides of the fabric by means of nozzles 10. A cooling zone may be provided at the delivery end of the tenter.
