Abstract

934,451. Film driers. RICHARD SIMON & SONS Ltd. July 6, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 23747/60. Class 34 (1). A heated hollow rotary drum comprises one or more feed rolls supplying a film of paste thereto, agitator blades positioned in the paste adjacent the or each feed roll and a doctor blade removing the dried paste. A steam heated hollow rotary drum having feed rolls 2 and a feed box arrangement comprising a roll 3 and member 4 has a frame 5 arranged to reciprocate in the direction of the length of the rolls which carry agitator blades 6 which extend into the material between the rolls. The dried film is removed from the cylinder by a doctor blade 7. In a modification two such drums are mounted to give a nip therebetween one of the cylinders having adjustment means to vary the nip. The agitator blades are arranged on a frame which is reciprocal by pneumatic cylinders in the direction of length of the feed rolls, and have additional blades extending into the vicinity of the nip.
