Abstract

1,126,933. Drying fibrous webs. BELOIT CORP. 21 Jan., 1966 [3 Feb., 1965], No. 2875/66. Heading F4G. Apparatus for drying fibrous webs, e.g. of paper, and removing broke or other foreign matter therefrom, comprises a series of drying cylinders 10 . . . 35 about which the web 7 is entrained in intimate relation therewith by felts 36, 39, 41, 44 which are individually dried by driers 71, 53, 72 and 65 respectively, and guided by rollers or idlers in loops. Felt rolls or idlers 73 . . . 80 train the upper felts e.g. felt 41 from cylinder 32 to cylinder 18 via the felt drier 72 with the side of the felt formerly facing the drying cylinders facing the outside to retain broke to the outside of the felt rolls free from contact therewith. Reversal of direction of the felt at roll 77 centrifuges off the broke on to the upper run of the felt over rollers 78, 79 and any broke left thereon is removed by a doctor blade 81 adjacent the roller 18 into broke collector 69.
