Magneto-electric machines.-The sides a, b, c, d of the pole-pieces N, S of the rotating or other magnets used in magneto-electric ignition apparatus are inclined to the plane passing through the centres of both poles and the magnet axis, instead of being parallel thereto for the purpose of allowing an increase in the range of adjustment of the point of ignition. The sides may incline towards the axis, Fig. 2, or away from the axis, Fig. 4.
