Abstract

120,825. Lynde, F. G. Jan. 4, 1918. Concrete vessels.-In concrete slab structures in which the slabs are connected by rods 7 passed through metal loops projecting from the edges of the slabs, the horizontal junctions 4 of adjacent and alternate vertical series of slabs are staggered and strengthened by grooves and dowels; the vertical junctions may be further secured by rods or wires 8 passed transversely through the slabs and with the ends twisted together, the whole of each junction being covered up with concrete. The slabs may be arranged to form flat walls crossing at right angles, or zigzag walls, Fig. 3, to produce a cellular construction. The invention is applicable to the construction of watertight compartments in ships, pontoons, and tanks, and to cellular constructions which mav be loaded to increase the stability.
