Abstract
1220. Edlin, F. W. Jan. 26. Flooring-blocks.-Floors, landings, &c. are formed of reinforced block-work joists laid side by side and with the spaces between them filled with cement with or without reinforcing-bars. Blocks 1, Fig. 1, with recesses 3 at the sides and preferably hollow, are strung on rods 2, which take the tension stresses and are provided at the ends with bars 6 and nuts or cotters. The lower flanges 5, either plain or tongued and grooved, abut, and the upper flanges 4 are separated. Fig. 4 shows another form of block, the recesses 3 being at the lower parts of the sides and short of the ends, so that the grouting envelops the bars for the length of the recesses. In the form shown in Fig. 5, each block is provided with two or more bars 2 having eyes 10 at the ends through which pins 11 are passed ; or the ends may be formed as L-shaped hooks.
