Abstract

1,233,778. Concrete vessels. CERTIFIED CONCRETE Ltd. 5 Nov., 1968 [6 Nov., 1967], No. 52377/68. Heading B7A. Ferro concrete modular units 1-4 which as shown are used to construct a barge, each comprise a bottom slab 5 and two side slabs 6 through which prestressing tendons 12 run. These tendons 12 are pretensioned in the bottom slab and are subsequently post-tensioned in the side slabs. To form the barge the slabs are arranged in channel formation and tendons 12 pass around radiused bends in corner beams 7 between bottom slab 5 and side slabs 6. The units may also have tendons passing longitudinally through ducts 13 and 22 and which are post-tensioned. Deck slabs 8 are placed across the open faces of the units.
