Abstract

1,204,452. Extrusion. SCHLOEMANN A.G. 10 Jan., 1969 [10 Jan., 1968], No. 1686/69. Heading B3P. An extrusion press comprises a counterplaten 1 with a guideway 3 for a die slide 4 with an aperture 5 to receive a die 7 and a retaining member 9 to hold the die in position when the slide is in its working position. The member 9 is pivoted to the slide and held in position by the lower guide of the guideway. The slide is moved by an hydraulic piston 8 after extrusion and the member pivots away from the die as soon as it disengages the guide. The die rolls down the member on to a table (18), Fig. 3 (not shown), for replacement. An hydraulic lifting table 13 moves the member upwards after a new die has been pushed into the aperture by a ram (22). A pair of retaining members may be provided side-by-side on the slide 4 so that either or both the die or bolster (19), Fig. 2 (not shown), can be replaced. The press may be used for tube or section extrusion.
