Abstract

1,203,775. Making contacts for plugs or sockets. OTTO DUNKEL G.m.b.H. 8 Nov., 1967 [9 Nov., 1966], No. 50724/67. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H2] An electrical contact unit for a plug or socket is formed by etching out parallel spaced slots from a metal sheet 1 to form contact elements 2 and forming the sheet 1 into a contact sleeve. A beryllium copper or bronze sheet 1 is etched with ferric chloride to form elements 2 having a trapezium or hexagonal cross-section. The sleeve with its elements 2 curved outwards may be attached to a plug pin 6, Fig. 4, by a ring 8 or inserted in a groove in the pin 6 (Fig. 5, not shown). The outer ends of the elements 2 are hooked into a groove 9 in the pin 6. Alternatively, the sleeve with its elements 2 curved inwards may be inserted into a plug socket 7, Fig. 7, held in position by a ring 10 or by locating the web 3 of the sleeve in a groove (11), (Fig. 8, not shown) and deforming the body 7. The outer ends of the elements 2 are located in a groove in an attached ring 13. A sleeve may be formed with a longer web portion 3 (Fig. 9, not shown) to receive a connection lead.
