Abstract

1276051 Two-part couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 10 July 1970 [26 Feb 1970] 33602/70 Heading H2E An electrical connector assembly comprises plug 14 and receptacle 16 connectors having a resilient seal 172 with integrally mounted or separate tubular extensions 176 mounted on said plug connector. On mating the plug and receptacle connectors the ends of the tubular extensions 176 abut flared portions 46 (Fig. 4, not shown) of the receptacle connector and cause the intermediate portions of the tubular extensions to bulge outwardly (Fig. 3, not shown). In a further embodiment, grooves 184 are formed in the tubular extensions 176 to facilitate their bulging under pressure. Said seal enables an effective seal to be provided over a range of distances between said connectors. Pins and sockets (186, and 82, respectively, Fig. 1, not shown) are attached to conductors 196 and 94 by means of crimping caps 194 and 92. The seal may be made from a resilient elastomer containing silicone.
