Abstract
1,201,201. Ventilating buildings. CARRIER ENG. CO. Ltd. 20 March, 1968 [15 May, 1967], No. 22340/67. Heading F4V. A ventilating system for supplying heated or cooled air to a building comprises a duct 2 having a number of discharge spigots 1 and a diffuser plate 7 forming part of a false ceiling, the air flow from each spigot being controlled by a hit-and-miss valve 4, 5, directed vertically downwards by vanes 12 and a proportion of the air flow passing horizontally through a space 10 between the spigot and plate 7 before passing through the plate. The system also includes air flow straightening vanes 16 and 13, the latter being movable between positions 13a and 13b to vary the throw of air discharged vertically through the plate 7. The vanes 16, 12 and 13 may each be of a honeycomb formation. The valve 4, 5 is controlled manually or automatically.
