1,198,494. Cylinder blocks for I.C. engines. AUTOMOBILOVE ZAVODY, NARODNI PODNIK. Nov.6, 1967 [Nov. 9, 1966], No. 50286/67. Heading F1B. The rectangular upper portion 2 of a cylinder block has a transverse wall 3 at or adjacent to the joint 12 with the lower portion 1 providing seats 5 for cylinder liners 6. Cooling liquid is supplied through passages 9 in the upper and lower portions and delivered through a duct 11 to a cylinder head. The passages 9 are dimensioned to provide optimum flow above and below the transverse wall 3.
