Abstract

1,197,686. Scouring wool. VEPA A.G. 17 Sept., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967; 30 Oct., 1967], No. 44024/68. Heading D1L. A continuous length of raw wool is treated in a container divided into an upper treatment bath and a lower dirt settling space having a bath containing at least one partially immersed rotary suction sieve drum and being followed by a pair of squeeze rolls above a liquidcollecting trough, liquid from the trough being returned to the bath. In Fig. 1, wool 15 passes successively under three drums 5 in a bath 3, liquid from the first two drums being recycled from one end of each drum via perforations 11 in a distribution box 10 and liquid from the third drum being recycled from one end of the drum via a trough 13' beneath squeeze rolls 13 and perforations 14 at the opposite end of the bath. In Fig. 3, wool 26 is treated successively in two baths 23 and 24, each having a drum 25. A pair of squeeze rolls is situated between the baths, the lower roll being in contact with the near end wall of each bath. Liquid is recycled from each drum to its respective bath and from trough 29 to bath 23.
