Abstract

119,453. Choquet, L. Sept. 21, 1917, [Convention date]. Valves; valve-gear.-Mounted in the fly-wheel c of a four-stroke-cycle engine is a pair of parallel cylinders a, b having oppositely-moving pistons f, f<1> which act upon a stationary cam-track r. The pistons are connected in pairs to cam-rollers m through links arranged as shown in Fig. 1. The suction strokes of the pistons are effected by springs s<2>, s<3> and the cam is so shaped as to accelerate the movements of the pistons during the early portions of the compression strokes. Each cylinder has a single beat valve for controlling inlet and exhaust, the valves carrying conical projections which extend toward the sparking plugs to facilitate ignition. The valves are actuated by an internal stationary cam.
