Abstract

1,193,399. Terminal block. HEGO-ELECTRIC G.m.b.H. 10 Dec., 1968 [18 April, 1968], No. 58525/68. Heading H2E. An electrical connector or terminal block having a slab-like insulating body 1 and terminal 2 is adapted to be clipped on to a U- section rail or bar 12. For retaining the connector on the rail there is provided an L- shaped spring wire 5 having a longer arm 4 which is accommodated in a groove 3 and a shorter arm which is generally S-shaped and has an arcuate portion 8. The shorter arm projects into a recess 14 and its tip is retained behind a lug 9 so that portion 8 can be freely deflected. Portion 8 may be prevented from deflecting by a locking pin 15. The tip 7 of arm 4 is set obliquely to the plane of the two arms and rests behind a lug 6 and thus tip 7 is deflected, twisting arm 4 and imposing an initial loading on the spring which serves to retain the spring in the body. Before being secured to the rail, the groove 10 and portion 8 rest on flanges 11 and 13 of the rail. On application of pressure on the connector, portion 8 yields and engages under the flange 13. The connector may be removed from the rail by a laterally applied thrust.
