Abstract
1,255,661. Induction coils. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 20 March, 1969 [5 April, 1968], No. 16515/68. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H2] An ignition coil includes a housing with a synthetic resin cover 11; a terminal which comprises a pair of contact pieces 13, 16 at opposite ends of a stepped bore 14, one 13 of the contact pieces including a sleeve 15; and a rivet 18 which electrically connects the contact pieces 13, 16 and secures them to the cover 11. The rivet has a rivet head 19 at one end of a hollow shank and means operable from that end (e.g. a wire attached to end 12 which can be pulled) for deforming the other end 21 of the shank. The sleeve 15 of contact piece 13 is thus deformed into engagement with the wider end of the bore. A sealing ring 17 to prevent leakage of oil, may be trapped by contact 16 in a counter-sink 14.
