Abstract
1,193,107. Valves. SOC. GENERALE DE FONDERIE. 23 June, 1967 [23 June, 1966], No. 29131/67. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] In a central heating system having a coil 2 therein in which the domestic water is heated and a mixing valve 4 for controlling the temperture of the water in the radiator circuit 7, an obturator 13 is moved to by-pass the radiator circuit when domestic water is drawn off. The valve 4 is a five-way valve having a connection 5 to the boiler, a connection 9, containing a pump 8, to the radiator circuit, a return pipe 6 from the radiator circuit, a return pipe 3 to the boiler, and a connection to a by-pass 10 for the radiator circuit. In normal operation obturator 13 closes by-pass 10 and mixing valve 11 is positioned, manually or automatically, to allow water from the return pipe 6 to mix with hot water from the pipe 5 and flow to the pump 8. When domestic water is drawn off, obturator 13 is moved to close pipe 6, thereby entraining valve 11 and moving it to the dashed position, Fig. 2, whereby the boiler water flows through pipe 5 and by-pass 10 directly back to return pipe 3, increasing the heat available for heating coil 2.
