Abstract

1458001 Valves IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd 5 Oct 1973 [24 July 1972] 34479/72 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions F4 and H2] A valve for selectively controlling fluid flow between an inlet 15, Fig. 3, and at least two outlets 16, 17 comprises a rotary element 22. The latter has a relatively small aperture 25 25 therein and can be positioned to close or restrict (as shown) either one of the outlets and fully open the other. The valve may be used in a central heating system to apportion flow of hot water through outlet 16 to a space heating circuit and through outlet 17 to a primary water heating circuit in a calorifier. The valve is automatically adjusted in response to the temperatures sensed by room and hot water thermostats (44, 47), Fig. 9 (not shown), by an electric motor (34) energized via a rotary wafer switch (see Divisions F4 and H2). In an alternative embodiment, the valve comprises a circular rotary disc 68, Fig. 10, having three apertures 69, 70, 71 for co-operation with outlets 65, 66, 67, the outlets 65, 66 being connected with respective space heating circuits and the outlet 67 being connected with a calorifier.
