Abstract
1,255,847. Central heating systems. P. LEUENBERGER. 10 March, 1969 [4 June, 1968; 21 Oct., 1968], No. 12402/69. Heading F4U. A central heating system includes first and second vessels 1, 2; a line 11 connecting the bottom of vessel 1 to the top of vessel 2; a line 9 connecting the bottom of vessel 2 to the top of vessel 1; a pump 10 in line 9; an electric heater 6 in the upper region of vessel 1; and a heating circuit 12-19. The latter may be in liquid communication with the vessels, as shown, or a closed circuit having a heat exchanger in vessel 1 (Fig. 3, not shown). A thermostat 8 energizes pump 10 whenever the temperature falls below a preset value and thermostat 7 deenergizes the heater when a higher pre-set temperature is exceeded. A mixing valve 13 in the heating circuit is controlled by a room thermostat 20 and a finned-tube convector 17 (Fig. 2, not shown) is provided in the circuit. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, multi-way valves in the pipes connecting the vessels enable the direction of flow to be reversed between the heat-charging and heat-dissipating phases. The systems may use off-peak electricity.
