Abstract
1,192,992. Steam generators. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 26 Sept., 1967 [27 Sept., 1966], No. 43808/67. Heading F4A. In a steam generator having a rectangular section 1 lined with equally spaced inclined tubes 1a and a converging zone 3, formed by flat inclined walls, lined by equally spaced straight tubes 3a formed as continuations of the tubes 1a, the ends of the tubes 3a at adjacent side edges of the walls, are interconnected by loops 6 which lie outside the gas pass. Due to the shape of the walls 3, the right-hand edge 4a of each wall 3 will include more tube ends than the left-hand edge 4b. The tube ends at an edge 4a which have no counterpart at the adjacent edge 4b are connected to a header 8, to which are also connected the ends of tubes 3a which terminate at an upper edge of a wall 3. The header 8 also forms a distributer for tubes lining an upper rectangular zone 2. The tubes 1a 3a are interconnected by webs and the corners of the zone 3 are sealed by membranes 11 on the loops 6 and plates 12 on the flat walls 3.
