Abstract

1,163,303. Once-through vapour generators; tube walls. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 26 Aug., 1966 [27 Aug., 1965], No. 37044/65. Headings F4A and F4B. In a once-through forced-flow vapour generator of the type disclosed in Specification 1,163,301, the bottom hopper of the vapour generator is formed from two triangular end walls, with two symmetrically convergent side walls 4a, 5a between them. The parallel inclined tubes lining the hopper are formed as four panels connected end to end, one panel 23 extending from coner C1, around corner C2 to line L1, the next panel 24 extending from line L1 to corner C3, whilst panel 25 extends from corner C3 to line L2, and panel 26 from line L2 to corner C1. The separation between adjacent tubes is different in panels 24 and 26 from that in panels 23 and 25, whilst the tubes of the latter panels are more steeply inclined, so that the horizontal separation between tubes at the upper outlet edges of the panels are the same, to facilitate their connection to the uniformly spaced wall tubes of the vapour generator, though the spacing between the tube inlets at the bottom inlets of the different panels is not uniform.
