Abstract

1,192,083. Cartons. JOHN WADDINGTON Ltd. 12 June, 1968 [18 March, 1967], No. 12792/67. Heading B8P. A blank erectable into a carton for an oval shaped &c. article, e.g. an Easter egg, has flaps 48, 50, 52, 54 which are foldable to engage and position the article within the erected carton. In the embodiment described, the blank comprises four side panels 10, 12, 14, 16 with divergent longitudinal edges formed by fold or score lines 18, 20, 22 so that the erected carton is of generally lantern shape, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). Tongues 60 and cut-outs 62 are engageable in the erected carton when the flaps 48 &c. are folded over and the panels 12, 16 are folded outwardly, e.g. along fold lines 56, 58 or to a bowed &c. shape. Flaps 48 &c. are held in contact with the article by interlocking hooks 70 on flaps 68. Seating flaps 26, 30 have tongues 36 engageable with cut-outs 38 in seating flaps 28, 32, which latter flaps have tabs 42 which may be glued to adjacent ends of flaps 26, 30 when all of the seating flaps are folded to incline inwardly of the carton. The carton may be collapsed along lines 18, 22 and printed or ornamented.
