Abstract

118,817. Hartington, J. April 30, 1918. Addition to 109,022. Single-trigger mechanisms.- Consists in so modifying the mechanism described in the parent Specification that either barrel can be fired first. The lateral stud 2, shown separately in Fig. 10, is pivoted to the laterally swinging arm 2, instead of being formed integral therewith, and a push-button 14, shown separately in Fig. 11, is provided for pushing the lever 2a and lifter 5 over to the left when it is desired to fire the left barrel first. When the right-hand barrel is fired first, the action is the same as described in the parent Specification. When the left-hand barrel is to be fired first, the push-button is pushed in, thereby moving the lever 2a and lifter 5, against the action of a strong leaf spring 2b on the stud 2, to the position shown in Fig. 7, and then pulled slightly to the rear so that it is locked by means of a shoulder 14, Fig. 11. The push-button terminates in a cranked spindle 14 which passes through a bracket 15. When the trigger is pulled, the spring 10 on the lifter 5 is moved backwards and turns the push-button about its bearing in the bracket 15, so that the shoulder 14 is disengaged, the push-button being then restored to its initial position by a spring 14<c>. After the trigger is released, the arm 2a and lifter 5 are swung over to the right by the leaf spring 2 on the stud 2.
