Abstract

1,184,787. Drafting apparatus. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. 26 Sept., 1967 [5 Oct., l966], No. 44526/66. Heading DID. In drafting apparatus having an apron 1 between the drawing and retaining rollers which is supported in the region of its end adjacent the drawing rollers at either side of the line of the material being drafted by support 6, the apron is constructed so as to be capable of yielding towards the support along the line of the material. The yielding of the apron is preferably achieved by grooving at 11 the rear face of the apron along the line of the material being drafted. Ribs 12 are provided on either side of the groove to improve the flexibility of the apron, the ribs meshing with ribs 23 on the apron driving roller 2, 3. Portions 20 on the roller 2 engage in the groove so as to laterally locate the apron. Alternatively the yielding of the apron may be achieved by forming at least part of the thickness of the apron of a relatively soft compressible material.
