Abstract

1,190,527. Rubbing aprons. PIRELLI S.p.A. 25. Sept., 1968 [27 Sept., 1967], No. 45482/68. Heading D1N. An elastomeric or plastics rubbing apron has its inner .surface formed with two sets of parallel grooves 7 disposed on either side of the middle longitudinally extending line A A of the apron, .the grooves being at an angle α to the line AA' of less than 90‹ (preferably 10‹ to 60‹) to the direction of forward movement of the apron. The grooves which may be of curved, rectangular or V-shaped cross section are equally spaced at a pitch of about 10 mm., the .groove width being between 3 and 5 mmi. The apron may consist of a thin, grooved calendered rubber sheet, constituting the inner, roller engaging surface, one or more rubberised plies of textile yarn or cord constituting an internal reinforcement, and a second, calendered rubber sheet constituting the outer, sliver engaging surface of .the apron.
