Abstract
1,183,975. Galvanizing steel sheets &c. METALLURGIQUE D'ESPERANCE-LONGDOZ S.A. June 7, 1967 [June 7, 1966], No.26344/67. Heading C7F. A cold rolled coil 2, with the turns not touching, is annealed in a furnace 3 at 650 to 750‹C. in an atmosphere of wet hydrogen to decarburize or decarburize and denitride the steel, cooled, uncoiled, reheated, in a furnace 5, to 450 to 520‹C. in a protective atmosphere rich in hydrogen, e.g. cracked ammonia, and whilst in this atmosphere, is passed through a zinc bath 16 at 445 to 465‹C., which bath may contain aluminium. The thickness of zinc deposited is controlled by rollers 18, and the coating is cooled by a water spray 17.
