Abstract
1,181,879. Fastenings for sliding doors; locks. BRAMAHS Ltd. 3 May, 1968 [25 May, 1967], No. 24323/67. Heading E2A. An assembly for locking together the abutting edge surfaces of first and second sliding panels 1, 2 comprises at least one bolt 4 or 5 projecting outwardly in the plane of the panel from the first panel 1, a recess 14 or 15 on the outer peripheral surface of the bolt, a socket 16 or 17 to receive the bolt in the edge surface of the second panel 2, a bore 21 or 22 communicating with and extending transversely of the socket, a detent member 23 slidable in the bore between an operative position wherein a part thereof protrudes from one end of the bore and engages the recess on the fixed bolt to hold the bolt against withdrawal from the socket and an inoperative position, and a key-operated sliding bolt 10 on the first panel adapted in the extended position to enter the second panel and to abut a surface of the detent member at the other end of the bore 21 or 22 to hold the detent member in the operative position, the fixed bolt 4 or 5 being insertable into and withdrawable from the socket 16 or 17 when the sliding bolt 10 is retracted.
