Abstract
1,178,662. Controlling printing of zeros. C. OLIVETTI & C. S.p.A. 17 Jan., 1968 [17 Jan., 1967], No. 2614/68. Heading G4B. A ten-key calculating machine includes a platen 22, typecarriers 21 differentially movable under the control of a pin carriage 4 or totalizer 11, the zero type faces 20 being positioned opposite the platen 22 in their rest positions, and a cross-bar 24 transversely slidable in apertures 23 in the typecarriers until arrested by the first typecarrier displaced from its zero position engaging a step 41 on the cross-bar, the cross-bar.having offset faces 37, 38, whereby the face 38 permits the non-significant typecarriers to flex under the impact of the platen to prevent printing. A comb 33 is moved to engage the shoulders 36 of any typecarriers remaining in their zero positions to pivot these typecarriers a small amount in a clockwise direction to prevent smudging of the print.
