960,108. Calculating machines, setting &c. mechanism. TRIUMPHATOR-WERK VEB. Nov. 30,1960, No.41166/60. Heading G4B. In a calculating machine each type wheel setting segment is controlled, through a transmission lever, by the pin carriage and releases a latch from the type carriage which is still retained by a holder until all the segments have been set, when printing can take place. The segment 3 rotates about a shaft 31, causing a transmission lever 5, attached by a pin 4 and pivoting about a fixed pin 6 in a slot 7, to detect a set pin in the pin carriage 1. The rotation of segment 3 sets, via transmitting wheel 10, a type wheel 11 accordingly and also releases a spring- urged latch 14 from the type carrier 19. This latter is still held, however, by a bar 20 which is not removed until all-the segments have been set. When this occurs the carriers 19 are rocked by springs 28, about a shaft 21 and the type wheels strike against the ink ribbon of a platen 22. An aligning detent 23 normally held clear of the type wheel 11, engages with its tooth 26 to lock the wheel 11 during the printing operation.
