Abstract

1,178,076. Typewriters. SIEMENS A.G. 7 March, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 11053/68. Heading B6F. Variable line-spacing arrangements.-Line feed mechanism for electrically-operated typewriters includes a lever 4 having a gear segment at one end engageable with teeth on a platen roller feed wheel 7, the lever 4 being oscillated about a displaceable spindle 6 and reciprocated towards and away from the wheel 7 by an eccentric 2 mounted on a rotatable spindle 1 and engaging a yoke 8. A second lever 5 may engage the wheel 7 when the first lever 4 is displaced therefrom. The levers 4, 5 are urged towards the wheel 7 by springs 11, 10 respectively. Displacement of the spindle 6 causes variation of the lever arm ratio and consequently permits variation of the line spacing. The wheel 7 may be held in a set position by a weak detent arrangement. In the stationary period the levers are disengaged from the wheel 7, thus permitting manual rotation of the platen roller.
