Abstract

1,075,534. Typewriters. OPTIMA BUEROMASCHINENWERK ERFURT VEB. July 6, 1964, No. 27707/64. Heading B6F. A paper feed mechanism for a typewriter comprises a feed lever 1 pivotally mounted on a pin 2 and connected through an intermediate lever 3 to a toothed segment lever 5 pivotally mounted on a pivotable lever 4, said segment lever 5 being pivotable into an engagement with a platen pinion 6 for rotation of the latter. To rotate the platen the feed lever 1 is pivoted anticlockwise whereby the intermediate lever 3 displaces the toothed lever 5 so that a toothed portion 5a engages the pinion 6, the displacement being arrested by a stop pin 10a engaging the pivotable lever 4, which pin is set to allow a pivot pin 4a to coincide axially with the pin 2. Pivoting of the lever 4 also causes rotation of a spindle 9 fast with the lever 4 to disengage the locking members of a line spacer lock (not shown) thus allowing the platen, to rotate freely. Further movement of the feed lever 1 rotates the platen pinion 6 through the intermediary of the lever 5 until an edge 5e of the lever engages an adjustable stop 14. During the initial return movement of the feed lever 1 a spring 12 returns the lever 4 back into contact with a stop 10b whereby the line spacer lock is again locked and the toothed lever 5 is disengaged from the platen pinion 6.
