Abstract

1,182,512. Selective printing. BUCHUNGSMASCHINENWERK KARL-MARX-STADT. 19 April, 1967, No. 18017/67. Heading B6F. A printer for recording alphanumeric characters on a record on an axially fixed platen 3 has a type-carriage movable along a printing line and which carries two sets of type, the first set comprises a number of type-carriers 9 which can print a number of characters together (referred to as parallel printing) and a second set of type 10 on a type-wheel which prints one character at a time (referred to as series printing) along a limit line distance a for each tabulation position of the type-carriage. The carriage may be moved into various tabulation positions A, D determined by a carriage lever 16 and column stops 18 on a tabulation strip rack 17. The carriage 4 is axially displaced on a grinding screw shaft 5 and the type-wheel 10 is selectively rotated by a knee-joint mechanism carrying intermediate gears and which allows the type wheel 10 to be letter-spaced relative to the carriage. If further letter-spacing is required the carriage is moved to the next tabulation stop 18.
