Abstract

1,174,918. Reciprocating pumps. INTERNATIONAL BASIC ECONOMY CORP. Nov.30, 1966 [Dec.1, 1965], No.53680/66. Heading F1A. In a swash-plate pump each piston 62 has a ball shaped portion 60 located in a piston shoe means 57, which includes a bearing portion 56 that forms a spherical surface 58 for the ball shaped portion 60 and a bearing surface 59 that engages the swashplate, a multiple segment ring formed by segments 61, 63 having spherical surfaces 47 to conform to the upper part of the ball shaped portion and tapered surfaces engaged by a retaining ring 43 having corresponding tapered surfaces 45, 41. A metal casing 64 surrounds the bearing portion 56, ring 43 and segments 61, 63 and includes an upper edge crimped over retaining ring 43, and a shoulder 66 that surrounds a recess 68 of reduced diameter on the bearing portion 56. On the return stroke of the piston an axial force is exerted on the ring 43 by the shoe mounting recess (55, Fig.10, not shown) of the yoke (202), and ring 43 pushes against segments 61, 63 maintaining engagement of the parts . The pump and its operation is described in Specification 1,169,947.
