1523693 Reciprocating pumps and motors EATON CORP 17 May 1976 [27 May 1975] 20285/76 Heading F1A In an axial piston pump or motor comprising a rotary cylinder block 26 splined to a shaft 18 and having pistons 44 with slippers 59 held against a swash-plate 46 by an annular plate 56, a spring 70 acts between an abutment 76 on the block and a washer 80 transmitting the spring force to the plate 56 via rigid pins 84 and an annular retainer member 66 splined to shaft 18 and having a partspherical surface over which plate 56 ensues, the bores 86 receiving pins 84 being inclined to the block axis, e.g. at between 15 degrees to 30 degrees, and located between adjacent cylinder bores and between the bores and the block axis, Fig. 2 (not shown). Spring 70 also biases the block towards a valve face 38.
