Abstract

1364947 Axial piston pumps and motors W S BOBIER 4 Sept 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 40872/72 Heading F1A [Also in Division G3] An axial piston hydraulic pump or motor comprises a rotary cylinder block 34 engaging a stationary, ported valve face 48 and having pistons 38 with slippers 46 slidably engaging a swash-plate 55. The swash-plate has arcuate bearing surfaces supported by plastics bearings 87 on a support member 57, an arm 77 on the swash-plate being slidably engaged by a U-shaped member 79 connected by a pin 87 to the piston of a stroke-control mechanism 140 removably mounted on housing 14 and interchangeable with other types of stroke-control mechanism (see Division G3). The cylinder block is splined to a drive-shaft 68 and is supported by a roller bearing 90 abutted by portions of swash-plate support member 57 which also engages shaft bearing 72 to align the assembly in the housing. Spring 70 biases the piston slippers against the swash-plate. In Figs.8 and 9 (not shown), a manifold member (300) is mounted on end-plate 20 and has passages communicating with port 53, the member having connections and mounting holes for accepting a plurality of different control or pressure-relief valves.
