An apparatus for wet developing an electrostatic image on a photo-sensitive surface with a developing liquid comprises a means for uniformly covering said surface bearing said image with a pre-treatment liquid e.g. bath 9 or roller 13 and bath 9, means for developing said pretreated photo-sensitive surface with a developer liquid e.g. bath 10 or roller 13a and bath 10, and a pair of elastic rollers 12, 13 for squeezing out excess pre-treatment liquid and a pair of elastic rollers 12a, 13a for squeezing out excess developer liquid, said pairs of elastic rollers having an electrical volume resistivity not higher than 10<SP>10</SP> ohm cm. and a D.C. not lower than 5À0.
