Abstract
1342911 Developing apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 April 1971 [6 Feb 1970] 20564/71 Heading G2H Electrographic developing apparatus comprises two brushes 23, 24 each comprising metal coated fibres; the conductivity of brush 23 being higher than that of brush 24 whereby brush 23 produces solid area development and brush 24 produces fringe development. One or both of the brushes may be used on an electrostatic latent image. As shown, an image bearing web 20 is moved into contact with the desired brush by rollers 28, 30. A bristle brush 25 feeds developer to brushes 23, 24. Brushes 23, 24 may be earthed or electrically biased and may be elctrically connected to the backing of web 20. The brushes may be cylindrical, or flat or in the form of a belt or coil. Natural and synthetic fibres are listed as are metals for coating them and methods of coating. Nickel coated acrylic fibres are preferred. The backing (13,) Fig. 1; (not shown) of each brush may be provided with a conductive support (14).
