A combined handle and latch for attachment to a trunk, suitcase, attache case or other luggage carrier, comprises in combination a substantially U-shaped handle 1, a latch casing 10 disposed between the end portions of the handle and to which the handle is connected said latch casing being provided with a crown portion 11, a latch bolt 30 inserted centrally within said crown portion and having a body protruding therethrough and having a hook on each side of said body, the end portions of said hooks protruding through said crown portion by means of corresponding cut outs 31a, 32a therein, a horizontal strip 15 below said latch casing provided with lugs 16, 17, said lugs cooperating with corresponding similar cut-outs in the latch casing on opposite 'sides of the bolt to fasten the strip to the casing, spring means 25. 26 disposed between said latch bolt body and said strip, a keeper 50 provided with tongues 57, 58 having means for engagement by said hook end portions and a cover 40 enveloping said casing and fastened thereto, provided with a central cut-out to accommodate said latch bolt body which protrudes thereabove and two rectangular cut-outs through which the keeper tongues can pass for engagement by the hook end parts and apertures in the casing and strip for receiving fasteners by which the casing and strip are fastened to the carrier.
