Abstract

943,138. Hasp fastenings. C. W. CHENEY & SON Ltd. Sept. 13, 1962 [Oct. 31, 1961], No. 38825/61. Heading E2A. In a luggage fitting of the kind comprising an attachment plate 10 having a hinged hasp 14, which is formed of a metal cover pressing 15, which is visible when the hasp is engaged with a latch or bolt, and another metal pressing 25 which carries a staple or loop 30, and is secured to and within the cover pressing, the two pressings each include a base, side and end walls, the end walls 27 of the pressing 25 fitting between the side walls 16 of the cover pressing, the cover pressing having integral tabs 36 extending from the free edges of its side walls which are folded into recesses 31 in the base of the pressing 25 and pass over slots 32 formed in said recesses and extending across the recesses so that the edges of the tabs abut edges 37 of the recesses which are perpendicular to the base of the pressing and are produced by the slots. The length of the pressing 25 is such that the attachment plate 10 is received inside the cover pressing when the hasp is fastened.
