Abstract
1,170,002. Transformers and reactors; coils. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 11 Jan., 1967 [14 Jan., 1966], No. 1571/67. Headings H1P and H1T. The individual coils 1, 3, 5 making up a coil assembly, such as a line deflection transformer, are constructed so as to fit telescopically within one another, and the insulaton between each winding layer of each section and between the individual coil sections is formed solely by the insulating coating on the wire used to wind the coil sections, this insulating coating comprising besides lacquer a thermoplastics outer layer which is heated during assembly to stick the windings together. For a rigid construction the coil assembly may be surrounded by a cast insulating mass such as an epoxy resin. The coil assembly is mounted on a former 8 having a flange 9 and a hole which can accommodate a core of magnetic material. A further flange 15 secures the coils. Contact is made to the coils by tags 11, which may form tappings if the coils are inter-connected to form a single winding or a tapped auto-transformer.
