Abstract
1,164,208. Cables. SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 Sept., 1967 [27 Sept., 1966 (2)], No. 41781/67. Heading H1A. A high voltage cable comprises a hollow or stranded conductor 1 filled with silicone oil or a mixture of silicone and a hydrocarbon oil 6, an extruded cross-linked polyethylene insulating layer 2, a semi-conductive layer 3, e.g. a polyolefin loaded with carbon black, a metal shield 4, e.g. of copper tape or extruded lead or aluminium, and an anti-corrosion layer 5 of p.v.c. or chloroprene. At all times, the oil fills the conductor/insulation interface.
