Abstract

115,957. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). July 18, 1917. Paddle centrifugal fans; impeller blades. - Blades are cut from beams of H- section and are fixed to a hub member in any suitable manner, the preferred form being shown in Fig. 2. A length of H- beam, Fig. 3, is cut diagonally along the line a to form two blades, each having a brace 10, the flanges 7 of the beam forming the blade proper 9. The short piece of the flange on each piece is removed by a cut on the line b, and a small portion of the web cut away on the line c, leaving a portion of the flange which is then upset to form a ridge 8, Fig. 3. The blades are assembled on the boss of the impeller by inserting the root with the ridge 8 in axial slots in the disk 11. The disk 12, similarly slotted, is fitted, and the two disks are bolted or riveted together. The disk 12 is shouldered to engage a ledge 17 on the disk 11. The blades may be tapered outwardly.
