Abstract
1,143,707. Knitting-machines. SINGER CO. 15 Jan., 1968 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 2047/68. Heading D1C. A two-section raise cam comprises a trailing section settable to knit, tuck or welt positions and a leading section positionable to tuck level when the other section is set to the knit or tuck levels. The cam is so positioned that the needles remain at tuck level, with their needles protected by the cloth, until the edge of the latch guard is passed, when they may be raised to knit. In one embodiment the trailing section 44, 46 may be set at knit or tuck positions respectively and a pin 110, 112 seats above or on top of a noze 96, 100 so that the leading section remains in tuck position. Both sections e.g. 50, 54 may be arranged in the welt positions. The positions of the fin and noze on the two sections may be interchanged. In an alternative the sections may be individually settable. The stitch cams 22, 24 are adjustable as described in Specification 1,091,259.
